About Us
An organization built by firefighters, for firefighters.
Founded by retired members of the fire and rescue service, we exist to ensure that a lifetime of public service is met with lasting care, solidarity and recognition.
Our history
The Cyprus Retired Firefighters Organization — officially ΟΡΓΑΝΩΣΗ ΣΥΝΤΑΞΙΟΥΧΩΝ ΠΥΡΟΣΒΕΣΤΩΝ ΚΥΠΡΟΥ — was formed when a group of retired fire officers recognised a simple truth: after decades of answering emergency calls, many colleagues faced retirement without a structured network of support. Health concerns linked to years of smoke exposure, isolation, and complex pension and benefit procedures were challenges no one should face alone.
What began as informal meetings among former crew members grew into a formally constituted association with a written constitution, elected leadership and a clear charitable purpose. Today we represent retired fire and rescue personnel from across Cyprus, together with their families and surviving spouses.
Legal status & registration
The organization is a registered non-profit association in the Republic of Cyprus, recorded with the Ministry of Interior under registration number MOI: ΛΕΥΣ4083. It operates in accordance with its constitution and applicable laws governing associations and foundations. All income is applied exclusively to the organization's objectives; no profit is distributed to members or officers.
Foundational commitment
Our founding charter commits us to three enduring duties: to care for the welfare of retired firefighters and their families; to preserve and honour the heritage of the fire service; and to continue serving the public through fire-safety education and civic engagement.
Governance & transparency
We hold ourselves to the same standards of accountability our members upheld in uniform. Accounts are audited and presented annually to the General Assembly, welfare decisions follow documented criteria, and members may inspect minutes and financial statements on request.
